TAG Heuer Monaco, one of the legendary model families in the world of watches, once again meets watch lovers with a new limited edition version featuring a gradient purple dial.
Being among the iconic model families of TAG Heuer, one of the cult names of motorsport-themed models, Monaco has been considered the most charismatic square-cased watch in the world of watches since its introduction in 1969.
The model, which is among the unchanging preferences of not only motorsports enthusiasts but also those who love classic chronographs, deserves this title with its role in the 1971 film LeMans, in which it appeared on the wrist of Steve McQueen, one of the cool actors of the silver screen.
TAG Heuer continues to expand this classic model family with different versions. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019, the collection also hosts a wide portfolio that offers different case materials and strap options as well as various dial colors.
The newly added model to the collection draws attention with its striking purple dial. The background, which turns black gradually from the center to the edges, includes a pair of chronograph counters designed in black. The small seconds counter located at 6 o'clock does not have a sub-dial of its own, and at first glance, it looks like a Bi-Compax arrangement, in line with the model with a retro character. The date window, on the other hand, preserves the integrity of the dial thanks to being located at the 6 o'clock marker with a dark-background disc.
At the heart of the new model, which comes with a 39mm x 39mm steel case, is the Caliber Heuer 02, which stands out with its 80-hour power reserve and features an automatic chronograph. The elegant movement, with its perforated rotor designed in harmony with the dial color, offers an eye-catching look even on the back of the model.
The model, limited to only 500 pieces, comes on a black crocodile leather strap, prepared with a purple lining. The stylish model is secured to the wrist by a folding clasp with the TAG Heuer emblem. The new model carries a price tag of $7150.00 (US list).
