Aquaracer returns to its essence. The new model comes in a 40mm diameter stainless steel case equipped with automatic and quartz caliber options.
"Outdoors" was deemed appropriate for the new Aquaracer, which comes with a stainless steel case and dodecagonal bezel. The new series aims not only at divers but also all nature-loving watch enthusiasts with the compass figure on the case back. No worries, the new collection is still water-resistant to 200 meters.
The new model finally gets a 40mm case, which in my opinion, is much more comfortable and stylish. Don't get me wrong, the 43mm Aquaracers were also comfortable on the wrist, but who can say no to the romantic feel of the 40mm? The watch, which comes in a stainless steel case, has a sapphire crystal on the front, while the case back is solid. I would see the diving helmet that we know from other models rather than the compass on the case-back.
The new model comes in two different calibers. Called Caliber 5 and built on the ETA 2824-2 architecture, the automatic movement offers 38 hours of power reserve. There are quartz movement versions as well.
The automatic caliber version comes with a horizontal-lined dial in black or blue tones. It is worth remembering that the black dial mostly looks dark gray. The white writing of the date disc at 6 o'clock on a dark background will make many watch lovers happy. The inconsistency of the black numbered date disc on a white background with the dial in the old models has always been one of the issues I criticize. Another novelty is that there are no cyclops on the crystal of the automatic version above the date window. If you go with the quartz caliber, you will again have the horizontal lines on the dial, but this time the color changes to a deeper black, and you don't have the date display. There is also a silver-dialed version. The battery-powered series, which has much simpler lines, draws attention with its affordable price compared to its automatic version.
The models are available on stainless-steel bracelets with folding clasps that allow micro-adjustment.
The ceramic insert bezels are becoming more and more common among today's diving watches. However, we cannot ignore the harmony of a steel bezel with a steel case. The new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Outdoors perfectly fills the gap for an affordable and quality watch in a wearable size(!) with this combination.
