The moment that was eagerly anticipated by the watch world has arrived and Rolex introduced its 2020 new models. The Submariner model family, which the brand also refers to in the pre-launch teaser video, has been updated with 8 new versions.
The year 2020 has caused us to witness events that shook the world since the moment it started, and it continues to do so. Of course, these events also happened in the world of watches. The fairs canceled by the coronavirus epidemic, the ending of the Baselworld event, which has become a tradition for the Swiss watch industry over the years, and the postponement of new model launches to uncertain dates were just a few of these events.
Despite all these negativities, good things also happen; Rolex is finally introducing 2020 models. Among the novelties introduced, there is such a model that created a bomb effect in the world of watches: The new Rolex Submariner 41mm.
The Submariner collection 2008 saw an important update, and the 18K solid white gold model undertook the task of introducing this intense update to the watch world. In 2010, other versions of the model family were also updated, creating the modern face of the collection. With the use of ceramic bezels, the watch gained a modern and technological appearance, featuring details such as expanding lugs and crown guards, and the bracelet clasp that offers perfect comfort and convenience.
We are here with a brand new Submariner after 12 years. The model family, which has quite innovative updates for a conservative brand like Rolex, seems to be one of the reference collections of the industry as usual. Let's take a closer look at the developments.
The case diameter is updated to 41mm. Thanks to the new size replacing the 40mm case size of the old model, the watch has a more elegant appearance. The angular image created due to the wide lugs in the old model has been replaced by a more rounded form and flowing lines.
Movements have also been updated in the new models. Now at the heart of the Submariner are the Caliber 3230 and 3235, the brand's most up-to-date automatic movements. The difference between the new movements is reflected in the user as the power reserve increased from 48 hours to 70 hours.
Among the new models introduced as eight different versions in total, the Ref. 124060 only comes with a black bezel/black dial combination as before. Submariner Date models, on the other hand, feature solid gold and steel/gold combinations that we are familiar with, as well as a blue bezel/black dial option added to the stainless steel series and a solid white gold model with black bezel/blue dial.
