Ulysse Nardin brings the concept of Great White, which attracts great attention, especially with its color theme, to the agenda with its new version equipped with the chronograph feature.
The watch celebrates the Swiss brand’s latest “ambassador,” a 12-feet male Great White Shark named Ulysses, who is currently being studied by one of UN’s long-term ocean research partners, OCEARCH.
The case of the model, designed with a diameter of 44mm and a thickness of 16.1mm, is produced from ultra-light titanium alloy. The case, which consists entirely of sandblasted and satin-finished surfaces, features an AR-coated sapphire crystal and a white insert diver's bezel on the front side. Sporting white accented chronograph pushers and a UN signed winding crown, the case is water-resistant to 300 meters.
The new model hosts a greyish background dial that draws attention with its surface resembling the skin of a shark. Blue accents adorn the date disc and chronograph counters on the dial, which sports white indexes and hands filled with Super-LumiNOVA phosphor material.
The Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph 44mm Limited Edition “Great White” beats with the in-house designed and manufactured Caliber UN-150 movement. The movement, which offers a 48-hour power reserve when fully wound, features an escapement and balance spring made of silicon, a high-tech material offered to the watch industry by Ulysse Nardin.
The model, which is limited to only 300 pieces, comes on a white rubber strap sporting a titanium link, a UN classic, and a folding clasp. The shark silhouette, which is located close to the connection point of the strap to the case, also glows in dark environments, as do the details on the dial and bezel.
