The dream of flying undoubtedly goes as far as the first days of mankind. This, which has always been a dream for the human being, turned into reality with the hot air balloon flights in the 18th century. Vacheron Constantin announced five different models in memory of this era which opened a new age.

The newly introduced models are dedicated to five different flights between 1783 and 1785. The crucial points on each of the flights with different stories are handcrafted on the dials. Therefore the models are separated not only by the dial colors, but also by the exclusive details. For example, the Ref. 7610U / 000G-B246 model that we photographed in detail tributes to the trip from Bordeaux in 1784 with the illustration of three explorers in its basket.

The models are offered in 18K white gold cases measuring 40mm in diameter and 12.74mm in height. The cases are equipped with scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and they are water resistant to 30 meters. Day and date functions are set by hidden buttons on the side of the case.

As in all the models in the Métiers d’Art Collection, the SIHH 2018 novelties are also all artworks besides being Haute Horlogerie wonders. It takes three weeks to complete the dials that are fully manufactured by hand work. Each model has a hand-processed and hand-painted dial design with its own details that tribute to a specific balloon flight.

In order to use the processing area on the dial more efficiently, the time displays are located at four corners of the dial. While the hour and minute displays are located d at the top of the dial, the date and time indicators can be read from the below corners.
