Vacheron Constantin, one of the most important names in the industry, was highly appreciated by the new Copernicus Celestial Spheres series, which was introduced as the latest series of the cult collection Métiers D’Arts.
Vacheron Constantin, which has made the tradition of making new additions to the Métiers D’Arts collection almost every year, once again hosts one of the most interesting novelties of the SIHH exhibition with the series of Copernicus Celestial Spheres this year. There are three different versions in the new series designed to commemorate the famous Polish mathematician and astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.

The first Copernicus Celestial Spheres model has an enamel dial, manufactured with the "champlevé grand feu" technique. On the top of the dial, is the Harmonia Macrocosmica astronomical map portrayed by the famous 17th century cartographer Andreas Cellarius and designed according to the Copernican system.
The dial of the second model in the series features a disk made of white gold with astrological signs placed on top of it. The third and last version’s dial features a sapphire crystal glass surface with both laser and hand-finished details.
All the models in the new series are powered with the brand’s in-house Caliber Ref. 2460T. The most important feature of these magnificent models that push the boundaries of traditional watchmaking is that they can simulate the rotational movements of earth both around the sun and around its axis in a highly realistic and precise way. The mechanism completes full circle of earth around the sun in a period of 365,2421898 days, while a full rotation of earth around its axis is finished in 24 hours.
As with all the models in the Métiers D’Arts collection, there is not much to say about the Copernicus Celestial Spheres series. The models that reveal the point where the brand has come about in design and production features amazing details that redefine the standards of high-end watchmaking.
