Vacheron Constantin, one of the veteran names of the watch industry, was a guest of our Hands On corner with the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date from the Patrimony Collection that features traditionally designed models inspired by the 261 year-old brand’s rich heritage.
The Patrimony Collection is the traditional-themed product line of Vacheron Constantin featuring models inspired by the brand’s past models dating back to 1950s. Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date is no different.
The model is offered with a pair of case options as 18K white and pink (5N) gold. Measuring 42.5mm in diameter, the model is fairly large especially with in traditional dress watch category. However, it is also quite comfortable with its total height of only 9.7mm. Equipped with scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides, the case is water resistant to 30 meters -a reasonable figure for the segment.
Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date is the second retrograde model in the Patrimony Collection. There is also the Patrimony Retrograde Day-Date model that has this feature in the collection, but has the day feature instead of the moon phase function.
The dial of the model is silvered opaline in both versions featuring white gold or pink gold accents depending on the case material. The retrograde date display is located at the upper half of the dial while the moon phase indicator, working with an amazing error margin of a day in every 122 years, is present at 6 o’clock. The moon phase disk is also offered in two different materials as white gold or pink gold proving the brand’s care about the design integrity and small details.
The model is powered with the brand’s in-house Caliber Ref. 2460 R31L. 27 jewels self-winding movement beats at a modern rate of 28800vph and offers a 40 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement is composed of 275 parts and equipped with a moon phase indicator and a retrograde style date display among time keeping function. All functions are set by the single winding crown eliminating the need for an extra stylus. Hallmark of Geneva certificated as the rest of the Vacheron Constantin movements, Caliber Ref. The 2460 R31L features a 22K solid gold oscillating rotor which is visible through the sapphire crystal display caseback.
Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde Date models are available with alligator straps secured with tang buckles made of 18K white or pink gold depending on the case option. The 18K white gold version is offered on a black alligator strap while the 18K pink gold version is equipped with a brown alligator strap.
