Among the brands that took the stage at the Watches & Wonders 2022 trade show, Cartier was one of the most talked-about names. The new models of the well-established brand, whose name is associated with the concept of luxury, are under the spotlight. 

The models most attention-grabbing models among the Cartier novelties met with watch lovers under three different product groups.

Masse Mysterieuse

Masse Mysterieuse is a brand new watch that came out after an R&D process that lasted about eight years. Yes, Cartier loves to push the limits of high watchmaking by presenting these extraordinary mechanical marvels at regular intervals, but the model we have here now has different dynamics and appeal. The new model, limited to 30 units only, comes in a platinum case measuring 43.5mm x 12.64mm.

So, what makes this watch so special? As you know, displaying the time by using the energy stored in the mainspring to rotate the hour and minute hands has been in our lives for years. One of the most up-to-date answers to the quest of offering extraordinary methods for this display method is the Masse Mysterieuse. While the hour and minute hands of the watch are stationary in the very center of the dial, all the remaining components are placed inside the rotor of the automatic Caliber 9801 MC! Yes, all the remaining parts like the mainspring, balance, escapement, and gears are inside a cage that acts like a rotor. Extraordinary, isn't it?

Tank

Another model that caught my attention at the Cartier stand is the new Tank variation. Why could a watch that has been produced for years intrigued me so much? Because the new Tank, with its dimensions of 33.7mm x 25.5mm x 6.6mm, creates a magnificent visual feast on the wrist. In the emergence of this unique image, the perfect dimensions of the case, as well as the glossy black dial, which is the epitome of simplicity, and the most important complement of the model, the black crocodile leather strap have a great effect. I can't help but describe the watch, which came to life with the hand-wound Caliber 1917 MC, as "the most elegant version among the current Tank models".

Prive

All watches in the Prive collection always occupy a special place in the Cartier product line. The two new Prive models introduced this year do not break the tradition and do not hesitate to teach how to make rectangular watches not only to watch lovers but also to other brands. The case dimensions of the watches are 39.5mm x 29.2mm. The 18K yellow gold case version has a case thickness of 7.7mm, while the platinum case version has a case thickness of 6.1mm. The main reason for this difference is that the movement of the skeleton dial version, which is limited to 100 pieces, is slightly thicker than the platinum version limited to 150 units. Of course, it is not these details that make these watches so special, but their perfect proportions and characteristic designs. Of course, the warm feeling of the hand-wound movements is also another reason.
