Zenith Chronomaster Sport

Home to the latest version of the world's most famous high-performance chronograph El Primero, the new Chronomaster Sport is preparing to set the new standards for chronograph watches.

The automatic chronograph caliber El Primero, which Zenith started to produce in 1969, has become a legend that has written its name in gold letters in the history of watchmaking over the years. Today, the Chronomaster Sport model, brought to life with the Caliber 3600, one of the latest versions of this extraordinary movement, is preparing to be one of the boldest novelties of 2021.

The model includes many design details unique to Zenith in general. The first of these is the case form called "Da Luca", which was introduced towards the end of the 1980s. Another important element is the A386 inspiration for the chronograph sub-dial arrangement and colors on the dial.

Sapphire crystals are placed on the front and back of the case, which is made of stainless steel with a diameter of 41mm. The case is home to brushed and polished steel surfaces and is water-resistant to 100 meters. At first glance, the black ceramic bezel catches our attention. There are indexes on the bezel that allow measurements to be made at 1 / 10th of a second interval. The dial has three-color chronograph sub-dials, which we remember from the A386 model. The seconds for the time are placed at 9 o'clock, the minutes for the chronograph at 6 o'clock, and the chronograph seconds at 3 o'clock. The large hand in the center enables time measurement with a precision of 1/10 by making one full turn every 10 seconds. Finally, there is a date window at 4:30.

The automatic chronograph Caliber 3600 is located in the heart of the Zenith Chronomaster Sport. 35-jewels movement beats at a frequency of 5Hz (36000vph) and offers 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound.

The model has two different dial options. Both black and white models feature the same sub-dials colors; gray-smoked-blue. On the other hand, a stainless steel bracelet and a strap with folding buckle options are also offered to customers for Chronomaster Sport.

The price is set at CHF 9,400 on a rubber strap and CHF 9,900 on a steel bracelet. As such, we can foresee that it can be a successful alternative to the Rolex Daytona 116500LN, which is known as one of the most successful steel chronographs in the industry. I am not looking to compare the models directly, but I am sure that the additional date complication, the relatively low list price, and, above all, a "no waiting list" shopping experience will be preferred by many watch enthusiasts.
