Introduced many new models at the Baselworld 2017, Zenith showed off with the latest member of its legendary collection Defy capable of measuring in 1/100th of a second.
The most striking feature of the new model is, of course, the chronograph movement capable of measuring with an extraordinary precision of 1 / 100s. COSC certified and self-winding Caliber Ref. El Primero 9004 movement features two different escapement systems. The first one is placed on the back of the movement, running at a speed of 36000vph and providing 50 hours of power reserve. The other system is placed at the front side of the movement running at 360,000vph (50Hz). This double-chain system is made from Carbon-Matrix Carbon Nanotube material.
The new model is available in three different versions. It is possible to buy the model with a matte titanium or ceramic / aluminum alloy material case with a diameter of 44mm and a height of 14.5mm. The case sports sapphire crystals on both sides and it is water resistant to 100 meters.
Two different dial options are available for the model as a skeleton and a silver-colored normal dial. Frankly, I do not know who would buy a model with such a special movement, with a closed dial. That’s why my favorite is the skeleton style dial.
All versions are offered on a black alligator strap and folding clasp made of titanium.
