The Lange 1 Time Zone Como Edition is known to be one of the most exclusive A. Lange & Söhne timepieces among the brands collection as it is produced only once a year for the "Best of Show" winner at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.

A. Lange & Söhne has been the sponsor for the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este since 2012. The competition takes place each year in May at Lake Como. A. Lange & Söhne created a unique timepiece: a one-of-a-kind model of the Lange 1 Time Zone with the special designation "Como Edition" to celebrate this exclusive event that focuses on the beauty and elegance of classic automobiles. Let me remind you that, this watch is not for sale. It is exclusively reserved for the winner in the "Best of Show" category.

At a close look, the "Como Edition" has two special features when compared to the classic version: Central European Time on the rotating city ring is represented by Como (instead of Berlin on the classic version) as a tribute to the event’s location. In addition to that feature, the timepiece is also endowed with a cuvette meaning that the Lange 1 Time Zone has a hand-engraved, hinged dust cover in white gold on the movement side.

Its free-hand engraving pays homage to the competition: the inscription "CONCORSO D’ELEGANZA VILLA D’ESTE" frames the coat of arms of the event and two calendar years. They trace the arc from the first Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in 1929 to the present, represented this year by 2016.

The timepiece comes in beautifully crafted 18K white gold case measuring 41.9mm X 11mm. The case sports a sapphire crystal and a hand crafted case back.

The dial is designed in silver color with rhodium applied gold appliqués. The hand set combines rhodium applied gold and flame blued steel parts with SuperLuminova application for better night time readability.

Lange 1 Time Zone Como Edition is powered by the in-house manual winding movement Caliber L031.1. 54 jewelled German movement beats at 21600vph and offers 72h power reserve when fully wound.

Besides its impeccable decoration, the stunning movement sports fascinating technical details. It features four screwed gold chatons, a lever escapement, a shock-resistant screw balance, whiplash type precision index adjuster with patented beat adjustment mechanism. Caliber L031.1. is precision-adjusted to five positions featuring double mainspring barrels, plates and bridges made of untreated German silver.

Functions are: home time with day/night indicator (hours, minutes, and small seconds with stop seconds), zone time (hours, minutes) with day/night indicator and city ring, outsize date for home time, power-reserve indicator.

The watch comes on a beautifully crafted black hand-stitched alligator leather strap accompanied with an 18K white gold buckle.
