Longines, considered one of the most successful brands in the heritage concept that is very popular in the clock sector in recent years, has introduced a group of new models at the Baselworld 2017 exhibition. We have the Longines Heritage Chronograph 1940 from the newly introduced novelties.

Longines Heritage collection, which has been a guest in our pages with different models in the past, mostly features models that are inspired by the successful timepieces of the brand’s archive and manufactured within today’s technology and standards. Highly appreciated especially by the vintage watch aficionados, a very good example from the collection Longines Heritage Chronograph 1940 is under the spotlight.

The new model is offered in a stainless steel case measuring 41mmin diameter. Thanks to the thin bezel and relatively thick lugs, the watch wears a tad bigger than 41mm -but surely in a good way. The case sports scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and it is water resistant to 30 meters. Arguably the most interesting part of the case is the chronograph pushers set. Inspired by the chronograph models of the 1940s, the flat rectangular pushers perfectly match with the retro character of the model.

The Longines Heritage Chronograph 1940 has a very stylish and original dial. The dial is dominated with a metallic silver tone background with vertical brush pattern. Accompanied with gold tone hands and indices, the dial does not feature a date display –which is a good choice in terms of design integrity. There is a pair of sub-counters at 3 and 9 o’clock as per the Bi-Compax chronograph feature. The dial is quite simple and elegant with logo and text use as well.

The new model is powered by the Longines Caliber Ref. L705.2. 25 jewels self-winding movement beats at 4Hz and offers a power reserve of 46 hours when fully wound. Equipped with a Longines signed oscillating rotor and decorated with Cotes de Genève motifs, the movement is visible through the sapphire crystal display caseback.
