The brand, which we know with its classic dress watches, is now winking at us from a brand new area, steel sports watch segment, with its new collection Odysseus.
Adding a breath of fresh air to A. Lange & Söhne, the Odysseus is a sport-elegant watch designed for those who admire German watchmaking and are keen on sports. One of the outstanding design features of the 40.5mm stainless steel case is its integrated bracelet made of the same material. The surfaces of the case are polished and the edges are highlighted with beveling. Brushed surfaces and beveled edges are also repeated on the connections and lugs of the solid stainless steel bracelet. Specially sealed conical pushers to adjust the date and day of the week are located at 2 and 4 o’clock. Not to mention that Odysseus is the first Lange watch to undergo a water pressure test of up to 120 meters, with a screw-in winding crown and a waterproof case.
Today, A. Lange & Söhne has five different collections: Lange 1, Saxonia, 1815, Richard Lange and Zeitwerk. Odysseus is introduced as the sixth collection. This latest addition comes not only with a new design but also with a new movement.
The brand has developed the Caliber L155.1 Datomatic for this new watch in its workshop. This name in the rotor means ‘automatic mechanism with date function’. The 32.9mm movement that fills the case completely is enjoyed through the sapphire display case back. The power reserve is 50 hours when fully wound.
The dial is made of brass and consists of several layers with different surfaces. It wouldn’t be German without gold, would be? The applique baton hour markers and Lange’s trademark lancet-shaped hands are made of white gold and are filled with phosphor material for utmost legibility at dark.
The Odysseus stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted up to 7mm thanks to its clasp. When the button with the Lange relief is pressed, the ring is easily pushed or pulled to adjust the desired length. Without requiring to open the clasp.
