Baselworld 2021 Cancelled or Postponed?

The Baselworld Trade Show, which experienced a complete breakdown with the leave of many important brands, announced that it has canceled the 2021 version, which is planned to take place in January.

The Baselworld Trade Show, which has entered the collapse period started with Swatch Group’s leave including all its active brands, had huge impacts after the Covid-19 epidemic, and the leave of brands that included heavy hitters like Rolex and Patek Philippe. Stating the calendar of 2021 as of January, as it used to be, the organization announced with an official statement yesterday that the fair will not be held next year, at least as we know it.

MCH Group indicates, in a press release sent yesterday, that “together with the exhibitors and visitors, we are working intensively on clarifying and discussing the requirements and options for new platforms “. According to Michel Loris-Melikoff, Managing Director of Baselworld: “We will be taking a decision on possible follow-up formats by the summer and will then provide information on the new concept and scheduling.” This statement makes us think that even though Baselworld 2021 has not been completely canceled yet, the fair will not be held in January 2021 and it is unlikely to take place as we are used to.

We hope Baselworld will leave these tough times behind, and with its brand-new format, it remains one of the constant elements of our passion for watches.
