French origin boutique manufacturer Bell & Ross has added a new version to the BR 05 model family, which has received polarized feedback by the watch enthusiasts. The new model stands out with its blue skeletonized dial.
The model family BR 05, which was added to the brand's product line in 2019, made a name for itself with its soft lines and integrated bracelet option and was among the interesting innovations of the watch world with polarized comments. Pleased with the success of the model family, Bell & Ross added a limited edition skeleton version to the series.
The new model comes with a stainless-steel case measuring 40mm in diameter and 10.4mm in height. There are scratch-resistant sapphire crystals on both sides of the case, which has a smaller wrist presence than it is due to its rounded edges and small dial diameter. The sporty case is designed to withstand 100 meters of water pressure with the help of a screw-in winding crown.
The most distinctive feature of the model is undoubtedly its skeleton dial. While the blue dial supports the concept in terms of color, it has managed to reinforce the sporty character of the model with industrial details. Offering optimal legibility under any condition with the Super-LumiNOVA phosphor material applied hands and indexes, the dial does not display any additional features, including a date window.
The new version beats with the Sellita SW300 based Caliber BR-CAL.322 movement, which we are familiar with many models of the brand. The self-winding movement, which can offer up to 40 hours of power reserve when fully wound, operates at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph).
Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Blue Limited Edition is available with a metal bracelet (Ref. BR05A-BLU-SKST / SST) or a blue rubber band (Ref. BR05A-BLU-SKST / SRB).
I had the opportunity to see the Bell & Ross BR 05 model family in person when it was introduced, and frankly, I did not find it very successful. The most important reason for this was the case design, which has softened edges that moved away from the Tool Watch character. I don't think a blue-tint, skeleton style dial will change my thoughts either positively or negatively. However, I do not doubt that this new version will be a nice option for those who like the model’s concept.
