Bell and Ross, the French boutique brand that has managed to create its own fan base with its aviation-inspired models, was the guest of our pages with the Bell & Ross BR S Blue Diamond Eagle, a model that reveals the brand’s ability to design women’s watches.
The model, under the brand’s iconic Aviation Collection, comes in a classic BR-style case measuring 39mm in diameter. The case, which allows to be used during light water activities with its 100 meters / 10 bars water resistance rating, is manufactured from stainless steel. Bell & Ross BR S Diamond Eagle model family has two different variants. The version we have here for review is the Ref. BRS-EA-ST/SST with the plain bezel. The Ref. BRS-EA-LGD / SCR version comes with a gem-set bezel decorated with 66 pieces of diamonds with a total value of 0.99 carats. The case is equipped with an anti-reflective treated scratch-resistant sapphire crystal on the front side and a solid stainless steel cover, which is engraved with a beautiful illustration of Aquila Constellation, at the rear face.
Of course, the most remarkable part of the model is its dial that is finished in a dazzling sun-ray pattern midnight blue tone. The dial features 7 pieces of diamonds that are set in Aquila Constellation lay-out. The details of the dial, which tributes to the early years of aviation when pilots refer to the stars’ positions to navigate, supports the elegant look of the model.
Bell & Ross BR S Blue Diamond Eagle is powered by the brand’s battery powered Caliber BR-CAL.102 which is used especially in the compact-sized models in the Bell & Ross product line. Considering the practicality required by women clientele, I think a Quartz movement is the right choice for ladies’ model.
The model comes on a stainless steel mesh bracelet designed in Milanese style secured with a Bell & Ross signed sliding clasp. The bracelet that offers a perfect harmony with the model’s feminine appeal, takes a full note in the wrist comfort section as well. Let me note that, there is also an alligator strap alternative in the collection which is finished in matching blue tone.
Obviously, I would not expect a wristwatch inspired by the gauges in plane cockpits to be so successful as to create a cult fan base. However, I would never think this very same inspiration will be used for a ladies’ model and end up creating such an elegant and stylish timepiece. I strongly recommend the Bell & Ross BR S Diamond Eagle model to women who enjoy bold and extraordinary models with a strong wrist presence .
