Inspired by the round marine clocks that were placed in a square shaped wooden box and mounted to ships in the 17th century, the new Marine Instrument Collection from Bell & Ross features three different models that include a skeleton chronograph and tourbillion chronograph, that reinterpret the ship’s clock’s as wristwatches in today’s modern watchmaking.
Like the rest of the brand’s iconic BR 01 product line, the BR 01 Instrument de Marine is also housed in a square case with a round dial, however, nstead of the collection’s airplane cockpit-inspired classic large Arabic numerals over a solid colored background, it sports very stylish Roman numbers on a white lacquer dial with a small seconds sub dial located at six o’clock. The look is finished with blued steel hands; a traditional detail to the art of watchmaking’s aesthetics back in the 17th century.
The new collection features three different models. Besides their different functions, the novelties also sport pretty unusual material – rosewood. Inspired by the marine clocks, the rosewood pays tribute to the wooden boxes used to fit the clocks in.
