The new BR 01 Burning Skull blends a couple of popular patterns: a skull and tattoos decorated through inked engravings.
The BR-01 Collection was a quite a hit when it first presented during mid 2000s. Though it is still pretty extra ordinary for the average watch guy, it does not look as unique as it did a decade ago. Thanks to the life saving special edition concept, Bell & Ross manages to keep the collection live and appealing as always.
The BR 01 Burning Skull, while keeping the aviation instrument-inspired watch case, is exclusively decorated with inked engravings. Considering the engravings are applied on every side of the square case, the clean geometrical look seems to be gone for good.
The case of the BR 01 Burning Skull is made of stainless steel is laser engraved with a flame pattern which is inspired by old school tattoo art. The lines are then filled with ink by a needle, and the case is fired in an oven to make the ink filling permanent.
The dial sports an embossed skull in that looks like it’s been raised out of the matte black Super-Luminova surface together with a set of hands shaped like a dagger and sword.
The stainless steel case is 46mm in diameter, and equipped with the BR-CAL.302, a rebadged ETA 2892 automatic.
BR 01 Burning Skull is offered on a thick brown leather band secured with a pin buckle.
Limited to 500 pieces, the Burning Skull is available starting October 2016, and priced at US$7700.
