Blancpain celebrates the 70th anniversary of Fifty Fathoms, one of the first diver models of the watch world, with an exclusive collection.
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, one of the first models in the history of watches produced for divers, continues to maintain its popularity with its wide product line that hosts different sizes, materials, and functions among its unique design. The cult model family, which, together with the Rolex Submariner, played an important role in the creation of the generic diver's watch design, celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. Blancpain is crowning this special occasion with three new references, each limited to 70 pieces.
The new models come in a case measuring 42.30mm in diameter and 14.30mm in height, which is a first for the collection. The Blancpain engraving stands out on the side of the fully mirror-polished stainless steel case. The unidirectional diver-style bezel is home to a sapphire crystal insert. On the front of the sporty case, domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating serves, and on the back, a sapphire crystal display case back serves. Equipped with a screw-in winding crown, the eye-catching case is resistant to water pressure up to 300 meters.
Produced following the typical Fifty Fathoms design language, the dial hosts block-type large numerals and bar indexes on a sunray-patterned black background. There is a date window at 4:30 on the dial, which promises sufficient legibility in almost any environment with the help of hands and indices applied with cream-colored SLN phosphor material.
The new models come to life with the new in-house Caliber 1315. The automatic movement, which consists of a total of 227 components, offers an extremely efficient power reserve time of 120 hours (5 days) at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) and when fully wound.
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Limited Edition Act 1 comes with a 21.5mm wide NATO-style strap made from 100% recycled fishing nets. The stylish model is fastened to the wrist with a Blancpain-signed steel clasp.
