Are you looking for a watch for every occasion? The new Chronomat B01 42 is exactly what you need, says Breitling.
The new Chronomat B01 collection, in my opinion, is a candidate to be one of the watches that can best reflect Breitling’s core values to its user. Blending modern watchmaking with retro touches, the Chronomat B01 42 offers admirable features from its case to bracelet, dial to the movement.
The model, which has a 42mm diameter stainless steel case, also nods to popular steel sports watches, thanks to its case design integrated with the bracelet. Case thickness is close to 15mm. As it stands, the Chronomat B01 is a watch that neither comes to the fore with its elegance nor offers hardcore sport watch features. The case sports sapphire crystals on both sides and is water-resistant to 200 meters. The sapphire crystal on the front side is slightly domed and anti-reflective treated on both sides. The Chronomat B01 has a unidirectional bezel with details specific to the model family. Micro screws on the sides of the bezel are among the elements that reinforce the sportiness.
When we got to the dial, an eye-catching copper-tone background greets us. The model with the Tri-Compax chronograph layout also has a tachymetric scale. The red finish of the chronograph second hand and the brand logo on the base are also the details that make us smile. Thanks to the Super-LumiNOVA applied indexes, hands, and 12 o'clock position of the bezel, the dial offers optimal nighttime legibility.
With the oval-shaped chronograph pushers on the right side of the case and the winding crown inspired by the shaft cover located in the entrance area of a jet engine, the aviation-themed details of the model stand out.
Inside the case is the manufacture Caliber B01. 47- jewels self-winding chronograph movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28800vph) and offers a power reserve of 70 hours when fully wound. The chronograph function, activated by the column wheel coordinator, can measure intermediate time in ¼ second intervals. The date feature, which is another complication of the movement, can be read through the window placed at 6 o'clock.
I think I am safe to say “a micro-engineering masterpiece” for Breitling Chronomat B01 42’s metal bracelet, which deserves to be the subject of a separate review. Designed with intertwining cylindrical components, the bracelet offers the utmost comfort as well as a high-quality feel. A double-sided folding clasp secures the bracelet. If desired, any 22mm lug-width strap can be used with the watch.
Breitling Chronomat B01 42 is available in many versions with different dial colors, including stainless steel and 18K gold materials. My favorite from the collection is by far this model I have here for review. However, whichever version you choose, I can guarantee you will have an extremely versatile and multi-character watch.
