Breitling, which is among the cult brands of the industry with its aviation-inspired models, introduced the new Colt Collection at Baselworld 2017. Highly acclaimed by the watch enthusiasts, the new collection includes a novelty model called Colt Skyracer, which is also the most affordable timepiece in the entire Breitling product line.
Breitling, home to one of the most beautiful and magnificent boots of Baselworld 2017, was also one of the favorite brands with its Colt Collection. The renewed collection promises a lot in terms of design, usability and affordability. One of the most talked about models among the novelties was the Colt Skyracer with its Breitlight® case material and relatively affordable 2250, 00 CHF price tag.
The new Breitling Colt Skyracer sports the "tool watch" spirit with its looks and technical details. The model comes in a 45mm case made of Breitlight® - a special alloy developed by Breitling which is 3.3 times lighter than titanium and 5.8 times lighter than steel. Despite its light weight, the Breitlight® case is extremely resistant to scratches and corrosion and can be used in almost any environment.
Breitlight® case material, which reminds us slightly of Forged Carbon with its unique texture, and black tone color palette, offers a highly masculine wrist presence with the help of its bold case. Thanks to the black rubber strap, the model feels very light and comfortable on the wrist.
The new model features employs a rubber coated winding crown. Obviously, this leaves a question mark in my mind as parts like winding crowns, pushers and bezels are pretty prone to wear, but I think Breitling made an improvement with this technology. I also do not think that this situation will create a disadvantage for a standard user.
The model features a matte black dial accompanied with contrasting indices (printed) and hands coated by white SuperLuminova phosphor material. With the help of the double side anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal, the dial offers maximum readability in almost any environment. The date display window is located at 3 o’clock position.
Breitling Colt Skyracer is powered by the Super Quartz Caliber Ref. 74. The movement offers 10 times more accuracy than a standard Quartz movement and comes with a COSC certificate. The movement is also extremely durable to impacts and temperature changes.
The new model is offered on a black rubber strap. Interestingly, the upper and lower parts of the strap have extra functions than keeping the watch on the wrist. The upper (12 o’clock) part allows the user to measure distance on certain scale maps, while the lower part can be used a ruler measuring in centimeters and inches. It takes practically seconds to take off the strap thanks to the easy strap remove system developed by Breitling.
Breitling Colt Skyracer is getting ready to take its place at the sales corners with a price tag of 2250, 00 CHF which is a relatively affordable figure for entry-level Swiss watches.
