Automobile brands and luxury watchmakers have been working together for many years. But there is one of them that make us recall the brands together like one. These two brands, which have been in the business association since 2002, have signed many special projects till now. One of them is the model that is subject to our review today.
There are actually a few reasons why those brands go together that well. First, they have been partner brands for many years. Their DNAs are very similar too. Even if we look at the logos of two brands, we can see this similarity.
The model’s case reminds me of a sports car with bold lines. The carbon material used in the Bentley GMT B04 S Carbon Body watch is the same as the one used in today’s Formula 1 race cars. Just like having a Formula 1 race car seems like a remote possibility, it’s not easy to have this watch either, because it is limited to 250 pieces only.
It is possible to see the patterns of carbon in the entire case. The 45mm diameter case has a rotating bezel with 24 different time zones. There is a sapphire crystal with antireflection coating on the front side of the watch. The water resistance value of is set at 100 meters.
Chronograph buttons, specific to the Breitling for Bentley Collection, are also made of carbon material.
The dial features carbon accents as well. The tip of the second hand, GMT hand and chronograph sub dials sport red details. Thanks to those red accents the readability which is the general problem of all black watches is improved. Of course, the SuperLuminova phosphor material used in the dial has a big share here. The date window is located between 4-5 o‘clock. Personally, I find the date displays unnecessary especially in chronograph timepieces. Sadly, same goes for this watch as well; I wish there was not a date window.
Breitling for Bentley – GMT B04 S Carbon Body is powered with the in-house Caliber Ref. B04. The movement with COSC certification beats at a frequency of 4Hz and provides a power reserve of 70 hours when fully wound. The B04 mechanism features GMT function, chronograph and a date display. Though the movement cannot be seen due to the solid caseback, the Bentley logo and the engraved specs provide a stylish design.
A special black rubber strap is used for the timepiece. Despite the use of PVD or DLC coatings on many carbon-case watches, Bentley GMT B04 S Carbon Body employs a carbon folding clasp. This is another feature that I appreciate.
