Nowadays, if you search Google for a thin watch, you are likely to get the message “Did you mean Bulgari Octo Finissimo?” as the dictionary definition of the ultra-thin watch now includes the name Bulgari Octo Finissimo.
The models that are introduced as ultra-thin watches are often overly classic and elegant looking timepieces. Bulgari, on the other hand, changed the game and managed to combine the ultra-thin concept with unique design elements.
The Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic, the guest of our Hands-On corner, is fascinating with its groundbreaking features, just like the other versions introduced before.
Scratch-resistant sapphire crystals are used on both surfaces of the 42mm x 6.9mm sandblasted titanium case. Like the case, the crown and chronograph buttons are made of titanium. In fact, the dial, the hands, and the bracelet are also made of titanium. As a result, the Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic not only stands out with its slim case but also with its lightweight. At first glance, the dial looks like a Tri-compax chronograph, but in fact, the sub-dial at the 3 o’clock position features a GMT indicator.
Completed with a titanium bracelet, both the silky touch of titanium and the soft feeling of the sandblasting finish and finally the extraordinary lightness of the watch, create a great sense of comfort.
In the movement part, your level of admiration increases one more time. The 37.2mm x 3.3mm in-house designed and manufactured automatic Caliber BVL 318 offers a 55-hour power reserve when fully wound. The 37-stone jewels movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28800vph). The peripheral oscillating rotor plays a big role in the ultra-thin architecture of the movement that is also equipped with chronograph and GMT features. The oscillating rotor, which is made of aluminum and platinum, rotates around movement like a frame instead of being attached to the center.
The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic is available at a list price of CHF 16500. If you want to have a record-breaking timepiece with a Bulgari quality on your wrist, you should definitely see this watch in person.
