Girard-Perregaux, one of the long-established brands celebrating its 225th anniversary last year, had a great appreciation for the re-launched Laureato Collection. The collection, which was enriched by the addition of gold options at the beginning of this year, was once again presented to the watch enthusiasts with the newly added Laureato Skeleton model.
Girard-Perregaux, one of the well-established brands of traditional watchmaking, crowned its 225th anniversary last year with the introduction of the redesigned Laureato Collection. Models designed in the concept of "luxury sports watch", which we have recently encountered in different brands, appreciated with their unique lines and bold appearance. The last model added to the collection is the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton model, which is recently presented.
The new model is offered in a 42mm diameter case available in stainless steel and 18K pink gold. The case is 10.8mm thick and mostly satin brush finished. I always find satin brushed surfaces better than mirror polished ones in terms of highlighting the design of the case (and the bracelet), especially with yellow or pink gold tones. Mirror polished accents on the models case are also brilliantly added. The case sports AR coated sapphire crystals on both sides. The stainless steel version is water resistant to 100 meters, while the pink gold one is water resistant to 50 meters.
Of course, the most important feature of the new models is its skeleton-style dial. The dial features a chapter ring for hour and minute markers. The markers and hands are filled with SuperLuminova phosphor material for better legibility. The small second’s sub-dial, which is the only extra function of the watch, is positioned at the clock 10 position.
The new model is powered by the brand’s in-house movement Caliber Ref. GP01800-0006. The self-winding movement beats at 4Hz and offers a power reserve of 54 hours when fully wound. Composed of 173 parts, the movement’s bridges and main plate are skeletonized with geometrical shaped and coated in anthracite tone. The oscillating rotor is also skeletonized and made of 18K pink gold.
The model is offered on metal bracelet which we are familiar from the previous versions in the Laureato Collection. The bracelet is secured with a GP signed push button-release type folding clasp.
As I mentioned before, the “luxury sports watch” concept is getting popular among Swiss brands. Just like the Polo S Collection by Piaget, Girard-Perregaux Laureato Collection is among the successful representatives of this concept. The stainless steel version is offered at CHF 32.400,00 and the 18K pink gold version is available for CHF 61,500.00.
