One of the most talked-about names of Baselworld 2018 was the famous Italian origin brand Bulgari. The brand, which introduced for record breaking timepieces in last four years, is the guest of our pages once again with the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon from the Baselworld 2018 novelties.
Bulgari has been frequently mentioned in the past with the investments they have made as well as with their record breaking timepieces introduced one after another. As a member of Baselworld’s stars this year as well, the heavy hitter of the brand was the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Automatic, which won the title of the world’s thinnest self-winding Tourbillon model that we plan to share a detailed review soon. Now, here we have another stunning new model from the brand the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon, which attracted a great deal of interest among the brand’s Baselworld novelties.
First of all, it’s not exactly a "brand new" model as it is actually a new version of the record breaking Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon introduced in the past years being the world’s thinnest hand-wound Minute Repeater model. This new version is differentiated from the previous version with it ultra-light Carbon Thin Ply material.
The new model comes in an Octo Collection style case measuring 40mm in diameter and only 6.85mm in height. The case is entirely (i.e. including the bezel and caseback) made of ultra-light Carbon Thin Ply material which perfectly amplifies the sound of Minute Repeater. With a total weight of 47 grams only, the case is equipped with anti-glare treated scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and it is water resistant to 10 meters.
The new model’s dial is made from the same carbon alloy as the case. The dial sports Octo Collection style hands with Rhodium finish and cut-out hour markers. The dial reminds us the Sandwich dials found in many Officine Panerai timepieces but with a difference of having no SuperLumiNOVA phosphor disk underneath.
Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater is powered by the Caliber BVL 362, which we recall from the previous titanium version. Hand-wound movement beats at 3Hz (21.600vph) and offers 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement measures 28.50mm x 3.12mm and can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display caseback.
The new model comes on an Octo Collection-style bracelet made from ultra-light Carbon Thin Ply, just like case and the dial.
The model is limited to 50 pieces only with a MSRP of 160.000,00 USD (US list). Expected availability for the model is June 2018.
