Undoubtedly, 2016 is an important year for Cartier regarding men’s watches. We have shared the latest news from the brand and its novelties launched during SIHH 2016. Another novelty came from the successful product line of the brand; Rotonde de Cartier. Let’s have a close look at the mysterious new comer Rotonde de Cartier Astromystérieux.

Rotonde de Cartier Astromysterieux

Cartier is well known for its mystery style clocks with several vintage and modern timepieces. It goes back to 1912 when Louis Cartier and Maurice Couet had designed the first mystery clock movement which has been interestingly inspired by the work of the famous illusionist Jean Eugene Robert Houdini.

Rotonde de Cartier Astromystérieux is a stunning example of showing Cartier’s capability in terms of watch making. It’s a great timepiece. When it gets to the mystery watches, people think about the dial first as the “trick” lays there. However, Rotonde de Cartier Astromystérieux does have a mystery movement.

In most mystery watches the hands are attached to rotating transparent discs in order to get the mystery look. However, at Rotonde de Cartier Astromystérieux we see that the entire escapement, balance-wheel, gear train, and barrel are attached as well and they all move simultaneously.

The Astromystérieux is 43.5 mm in diameter and the movement is the in-house manual winding Caliber 9462. This timepiece is limited to a series of 100 pieces.
