Tank Asymétrique, one of Cartier's most naive and impressive models, carries elegance to the wrists with six new versions introduced within the scope of Watches & Wonders 2020.
The Cartier Privé collection highlights the design of the brand's legendary watches. Since 2015, Cartier Privé has shared its variations in standard and limited edition series with its fans. After Crash, Tank Cintrée, and Tonneau, the Tank Asymetrique model is under the spotlights now.
It was Louis Cartier's idea to give the Tank model a rectangular shape. The model, which first appeared in 1917 at a time when there were plenty of round case watches, had many different versions until 1936. In 1936, Tank Asymétrique, then known as Parallélogramme or Losange, broke another watchmaking tradition, shifting everything on the dial 30 degrees to the right.
Cartier Tank Asymétrique
The new Tank Asymétrique models are available in three case options as platinum 18K rose gold and 18K yellow gold both measuring 47.15mm x 26.2mm. A ruby accompanies the platinum model’s winding crown, where the same details feature a sapphire cabochon for the pink and yellow gold versions.
All three models are available in limited quantities with 100 pieces each. The yellow gold version comes on a brown alligator strap, where a gray alligator strap completes the pink gold and platinum versions.
The dial colors for the versions are platinum with silver, pink gold with gray and yellow gold with champagne tones. Let's not forget that the big numbers and markers on the dial have been redesigned.
The new Cartier Asymétrique watches beats with the hand-wound caliber Caliber 1917 MC offering a 38-hour power reserve when fully wound.
Cartier Tank Asymétrique Skeleton
These three new models, which joined the Cartier Tank Asymétrique Skeleton, ticks with the hand-wound, skeletonized Caliber 9623 offering 48 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movement is visible from end to end in the area between 12 and 6 o’clock. The integration of this specially developed movement into an asymmetrical watch fulfills the mission of the Cartier Privé collection, 'Putting technology into the service of design'.
One of the three new models participating in the collection has the feature of 'jewelry watch'. The model comes in a platinum case measuring n 47.15mm x 26.2mm. There are 0.12 carats of diamonds in the winding crown, and 2.08 carats of diamonds in the case and lugs, making 250 diamonds in total. A blue or a black alligator leather strap complements this model.
If you say, "I liked this very much but I would like it without diamonds", there is also a diamond-free version offered with the same case, strap, and design. In this model, sapphire cabochon decorates the winding crown.
Another version of the Tank Asymétrique Skeleton is available in 18K rose gold case with the same case dimensions. The model is accompanied by sapphire cabochon on the crown and complemented by a gray or a brown alligator strap.
