Swiss jewelry and luxury watches giant Chopard is the guest of our Hands-On corner with its new Chopard L.U.C Quattro Limited Edition (Ref. 161926-5004) model, which was introduced as a part of brand’s Baselworld 2018 novelties. The new model, which features a stunning vertical satin dial and blue markers, also attracts attention with its 9-day power-reserve manufacture movement.

Chopard L.U.C Quattro Limited Edition (Ref. 161926-5004), which is more like a face-lift version than a new model despite being introduced within brand’s Baselworld 2018 novelties, offers details that point to Chopard’s traditional mechanical watchmaking.

The new model comes in a case of 43mm diameter and 8.84mm height, which we are familiar with from previous versions. The case, which is arguably big for a model that can be classified as a Dress Watch, is made of 18K pink gold. The case that is matt finished on the sides and mirror polished on the front and rear provides a bold wrist presence thanks to its thick lugs and polished smooth bezel. The case is equipped with anti-glare treated scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides as well as a large Chopard signed winding crown and it is water resistant to 50 meters.

The most prominent feature of the model in terms of being a novelty is its dial, which features vertical brushing on a satin-finished, silver-toned background offering an exceptionally harmonious image with 18K pink gold case. The applied hour markers and hands are now finished in blue and updated in style, with Arabic numerals at 3 and 9 o’clock and smaller leaf style indices in the other hour positions. There are a pair of indicators in the dial. The date display and small seconds counter share the same sub-dial at 6 while the semicircle shaped one at 12 monitors the power reserve status.

The new model is powered by the manufacture L.U.C Caliber 98.01-L movement which we are familiar with from the previous Quattro versions. Designed and manufactured fully in-house by Chopard, the manual-winding movement is capable of offering a power reserve of 9 days (216 hours) thanks to its two pairs of stacked barrels which is also the inspiration for the name “Quattro”. 39 jewels movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and bears the C.O.S.C. certification and the “Poinçon de Genève” quality hallmark at the same time. The movement is decorated in Chopard L.U.C. style which is visible through the sapphire crystal display case back.
