TAG Heuer celebrates its 160th birthday with Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition.
Tracks, cars, unforgettable races, Monaco, Steve McQueen, Le Mans and more… TAG Heuer celebrates the 160th year of its timekeeper identity combined with motorsports by the new Carrera model that once again expresses this spirit at its best.
Without a doubt, Carrera is one of the most iconic models of TAG Heuer. Back then, while the name of the brand was still Heuer, introduced in 1963, the model takes its name from the La Carrera Panamericana motor race. What made the model special was its simplicity, legibility, and functionality. One of the most well known versions of the Carrera family was the Ref. 2447S. Attracted attention with its three sub-dials and its bold silver dial, the model, which is the one that inspired the new TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition, was powered by the legendary Caliber Valjoux 72.
One of the differences between the old version and this model is the case diameter. The original model had a case diameter of 36mm. TAG Heuer’s 160th birthday gift Carrera comes with a new, 39mm diameter polished stainless steel case. The winding crown is located at 3 o'clock position and the chronograph pushers are placed at 2 and 4 o’clock. The domed sapphire crystal on the front side is anti-reflection treated. The case is equipped with a stainless steel case back with “One of 1860” and is water-resistant up to 100 meters.
The most striking detail on the dial is the model and brand lettering just below the 12 markers. As in the inspired version, the new model's dial also bears the "Heuer" brand name. Rhodium-plated, polished and faceted hands and markers that are filled with beige Super-LumiNova accompany the silver dial with sunray pattern. The second hand is finished in black lacquer.
The TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Silver Limited Edition beats with the manufacture automatic chronograph movement Caliber Heuer 02. The movement offers a power reserve of 80 hours when fully wound.
Limited to 1860 pieces only, the new model comes on a black alligator strap secured by a stainless steel buckle.
