Glashütte Original, a German giant in the luxury watchmaking industry, announced the new "The Capital Edition" series which is inspired by Germany’s capital Berlin. The new models that are designed through the Senator Chronograph model platform, is separated from the standard models with their exclusive dial color combinations.
The new collection was launched at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival, where Glashütte Original is one of the title sponsors. The collection is offered with three versions as stainless steel, 18K pink gold and Platinum. The entry level version is the stainless steel model that is limited to a span of 100 units only. The model sports an anthracite base dial which Glashütte Original calls it “Bourbon Grey”. The dial is accented with dark blue rings on the registers and beige Super-LumiNOVA phosphor material.
The second version in the new collection is offered in an 18K pink gold case. Sporting the same “Bourbon Grey” like the stainless steel version, this model is limited to 25 pieces only. Though we only have the official press kit photos of the models, there is no doubt that the new dial will look very nice in real with both stainless steel and 18K pink gold cases.
The flagship of the ‘The Capital Edition’ series comes in a Platinum case. The dial, which Glashütte Original calls “Dry Silver”, is finished with a light silver tone base and accented with baby blue sub-dial chapter rings which look pretty bold while matching with the Platinum tone perfectly. The platinum version is also distinguished by the blue sapphire cabochon on the winding crown.
Other than the exclusive dial colors, the new collection is identical to the standard versions. The cases are 42mm in diameter, and equipped with the Cal. 37, a self-winding in-house movement with column wheel chronograph function and the Glashütte Original classic panoramic date display. Finished and decorated in typical Glashütte Original standards, the movement attracts attention with its 21K solid gold rotor rim as well as a swan’s neck regulator index.
