Breguet introduced two new models added to its aviation-themed Type XXI collection.
Breguet, one of the milestone brands of traditional watchmaking, has added two new versions to the Type XXI model family, which offers design details inspired by the early periods of aviation.
The brand, which started to produce watches designed for military needs for the first time in 1918, launches its first chronograph models in 1935. Introduced in the mid-1950s and specially designed for the French Air Force, the Type XX model achieves great success. The legendary model continues on its way with iconic versions such as Type XXI and Type XXII over time.
The recently introduced novelties are based on the Type XXI 3817 model, which was debuted in 2016 and attracted great attention with its retro-inspired design.
The new model comes with a typical Breguet style case designed with a diameter of 42mm and made of titanium. The case, which features the coin edge pattern, one of the signature details of the brand, sports a black lacquered insert bi-directional bezel. Equipped with sapphire crystals on both sides, the case is waterproof up to 100 meters with the help of the screw-down crown.
The dial, which includes details that distinguish the two newly introduced models, draws attention with its green or orange colored components placed on a black background. Accompanied by large numerals and diamond-shaped indices as well as wide hands, the dial promises perfect legibility in almost any environment thanks to its dense Super-LumiNOVA phosphor filling. The Bi-Compax layout dial with counters placed in the 3 and 9 directions has a date window in place of the hour marker at 6 o'clock.
At the heart of the Breguet Type XXI 3815 is the brand's own design and production, the Caliber 584Q/A. The 26 jewels/323-piece automatic movement, which houses a date display as well as a flyback chronograph function, offers a power reserve time of up to 48 hours when fully wound.
Both models come on calfskin straps with matching stitching with the dial theme and a triple folding clasp. The list price for the models, which are limited to 250 pieces each, is EUR 14,500.
