The Japanese watchmaking giant is boldly unveiling new watches among its Swiss rivals. The new Grand Seiko models combine the most valuable examples of superior craftsmanship, great engineering, and Japanese design.
Spring Drive Diver, SLGA015, measures 43.8mm x 13.8mm, with a case and bracelet made of high-density titanium. Completed with a black and custom patterned dial, the model used a diving-type bezel that can rotate to one side. Famous for its use of the clearest sapphire crystal glasses in the watch world, Seiko offers 200 meters of water resistance for the SLGA015. At the heart of the watch, a member of the Evolution 9 case form family, is the auto-caliber Spring Drive 9RA5, which Seiko developed and built in-house. The 34mm x 5mm caliber has a 38-jewels, 120-hour power reserve and the remaining power reserve can be monitored with the help of the indicator on the dial. As a Spring Drive classic, Seiko offers an outstanding accuracy of +/-10 seconds per month. The watch's list price is US$ 11,600 and will be available for purchase from select Seiko boutiques as of August 2022.
At Spring Drive Chronograph GMT, the brand's emphasis on high complications is once again revealed. Measuring 45.3mm x 15.8mm, models with a high-density titanium case and bracelet have blue dials with reference SBGC249 and black dials with reference SBGC251. The waterproof values of models with sapphire crystals are indicated as 100 meters. Equipped with SPRING Drive chronographs with a 72-hour power reserve and GMT complications, the watches feature in-house 9R96 and 9R86 calibers. With the 24-hour scale on black and blue ceramic bezels, the second time zone on the dial is easier to follow. The list price of the blue model, which is limited to 700 pieces, was announced as US$ 12,400 and the list price of the standard black model was US$ 11.400.
Spring Drive GMT is another new model introduced by Grand Seiko
as part of Watches & Wonders
2022. Featuring a 41mm x 13.9mm titanium
case and bracelet, the models will meet fans with two different
references and dial colors. The black and grey dials used in the
SBGE283 and SBGE285 watches manage to dramatically reflect superior
Grand Seiko production standards.
Equipped with sapphire crystals, the GMT models have waterproof
values of 100 meters. Inside the new models is the automatic
caliber Spring Drive 9R66. The 72-hour power reserve movement has a
GMT complication, as well as a remaining power reserve indicator
and a monthly accuracy of 15 seconds. The list price of the model,
which will be available in August 2022, is set at US$ 8,400.
