Celebrating its second anniversary of being a brand on its own, Grand Seiko introduced new special edition models for the 20th anniversary of Caliber 9S movement, which was introduced in 1998.

Caliber 9S is one of the most important milestones of the Grand Seiko legend that the Far East giant manufacturer introduced for the first time in 1960. The iconic movement designed from the scratch in accordance with Grand Seiko’s "core values" as superior precision and high durability and first introduced back in 1998.

In 2018, the 20th anniversary of this important event, Seiko once again honored its famous movement, launching three new Special Edition models with an exclusive press conference took place at the Baselworld 2018.

The first model bears the V.F.A. marking that stands for Very Fine Adjusted and tributes to the original high-accuracy caliber introduced in 1969.

The case is the reinterpreted version of the model introduced in 1998 and designed by Grand Seiko engineer Nobuhiro Kosugi. Offered in an optimal diameter size of 39.5mm, the case is made of Grade 950 platinum and finished with Zaratsu polishing technique. It is water resistant to 100 meters.

The new model’s dial is also remarkable. A light color is preferred for the dial, which adopts a special sign printed on the watches designed in the section of "Daini Seikosha" (now called "Seiko Instruments Inc."). In addition to the classic Grand Seiko details, an additional V.F.A. marking is applied.

The model comes on a black alligator strap that is secured with a folding clasp. İt is limited to 20 units only.

In addition to the platinum model, the collection also includes a 18K yellow gold (limited to 150 pieces) and a stainless steel (limited to 1500 pieces) version as well.

The 18K yellow gold version comes with a dial with the same color and design as the platinum. The V.F.A. text is now replaced with "Special" while the hands and indices are made of gold in line with the case material. The new model is presented with a brown alligator strap and an 18K yellow gold folding clasp.

For the stainless steel model, a dark blue dial was prepared. The same radiant motif is present on this dial as well but the hands and indices are rhodium plated. Stainless steel bracelet is preferred for the model.

All models are equipped with the Caliber 9S85 which was manufactured with superior Grand Seiko Engineering. The new models are expected to reach the sales points by the end of the month.
