The Grand Seiko SLGH005 wins the “Best of the Best” prize at the Red Dot Design Award 2022 competition on June 20, 2022.
On June 20, 2022, the Grand Seiko SLGH005 was awarded the "Best of the Best" in the Red Dot Design Award 2022 competition. The winner of this award in the field of Product Design was determined by the evaluation of 48 jury members from 23 different countries. The Product Design field consists of 51 sub-categories, and the “Best of the Best” award is given to the best and groundbreaking designs in different sub-categories such as fashion, accessories, electrical products, and furniture.

The award-winning watch was designed last year to offer a new perspective on the brand's philosophy, the "Nature of Time". Powered by the revolutionary Hi-Beat Caliber 9SA5, the model offers +5 to -3 seconds of precision per day and a high power reserve of 80 hours. The precision, power, and sophistication of the Caliber 9SA5 have emerged thanks to a radical redesign of key components (for example, a completely new escapement and free-sprung balance).

About the Red Dot Design Award
The Red Dot Design Award, which started its activities in 1955, is
one of the most prestigious design competitions in the
international arena. Managed by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen,
Red Dot consists of three different disciplines: Product Design;
Brands and Communication Design, and Design Concept. In the Product
Design field, each competitor is evaluated on nine criteria,
including novelty, usefulness, durability, symbolic and emotional
content. This year's competition was held with the participation of
designers, companies, and organizations from more than 60
countries, with more than 7,900 products.
