The world's thinnest tourbillon chronograph record is broken again by the Bulgari Octo Finissimo.
We've gotten used to the record-holder Bulgari deserving this title to the fullest, breaking records of finesse one after another. But not like it became ordinary by any means. Every news we receive from the brand excites us as if it were the first time.
Bulgari breaks the sixth record for thinness in six years with its new Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic. However, it would be quite wrong to consider Bulgari as a brand that only produces ultra-thin watches and/or breaks records in thinness. The brand, which blends fashion with horology in perfect harmony, is the rooted representative of style and elegance.
Let's refresh the memories, Bulgari broke the record for thinness with the world's thinnest (5mm) tourbillon watch in 2014. The brand, which has continued to take the lead in the thinness race since then, broke the records for the thinnest minute repeater (6.85mm) and three-handed automatic (5.15mm) in 2016. In 2018, the Baselworld fair hosted the Octo Finissimo Automatic Tourbillon, both the thinnest automatic and thinnest tourbillon watch. Finally, Bulgari broke another thinness record last year with its 6.85mm thin chronograph.
This year, Bulgari chose the tourbillon chronograph model to reinforce its superiority in ultra-thin timepieces. Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic comes in a 42mm x 7.40mm diameter Grads 5 titanium case with a sandblasted finish. The movement inside is only 3.50mm thick. The fascinating design of the caliber can be viewed through the sapphire crystal case back. The ultra-thin case is water-resistant up to 30 meters. The pusher at 2 o'clock starts, stops, and resets the chronograph function consecutively, while the pusher at 4 o'clock sets the time.
The movement inside the state of the art case of the Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic, BVL 388, comes with a peripheral rotor. Technically, the structure based on the brand's ultra-thin tourbillon movement is different from the one found in the Octo Finissimo Chronograph model. The caliber with tourbillon and chronograph functions provides a 52-hour power reserve when fully wound.
The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic, which is limited to only 50 pieces, is complemented by a sandblasted titanium bracelet and buckle.
