IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition AMG GT is the first watch in watch making industry to feature a case manufactured of boron carbide which is a special kind of ceramic providing utmost hardness. Technically speaking, Boron carbide, is third only to diamond in terms of hardness after another similar form – Boron Nitride.

Boron Carbide is a material used in tank armors and bulletproof vests and as well as numerous industrial applications.

The watch is named after the new Mercedes-AMG sports car which is also the second vehicle built entirely in-house by the performance brand of Mercedes-Benz. The color theme of the IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition AMG GT is a tribute to AMG’s well known special color - “solar beam” used on the AMG GT which surely boosts the watch’s presence level from “eye catching” to “head turning”.

The flat head screws placed in the bezel and the crown are made of black zirconium oxide. Made of boron carbide, the massively sized case with 45mm diameter feels quite comfortable on the wrist due to it’s light weight.

Boron carbide case take five different stages of production before getting it’s final form. Being virtually indestructible, this space age material will surely help IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition AMG GT to keep it’s brand new condition against time.

The watch features sapphire crystals on both front and back and it’s WR120M rated.

The dial is designed in  classic Ingenieur style. Besides it’s simple and practical look, the solar beam color of the outer bezel and second hand tributes to the AMG styling. The blackened hour and minute hand have SuperLuminova coating for improved night time visibility.

Through the see-through sapphire- back we see the beautiful in-house caliber Ref.: 80110. The 28 jewels caliber offers 44h power reserve when fully wound. With it’s Pellaton type winding system and integrated shock absorbance feature, that fascinating caliber adds a final touch of style via the blackened rotor.

The rubber strap sports Dinamica® inlay, which is the same innovative microfibre used by Mercedes-AMG to pad the steering wheel, seat upholstery and headliner in the new Mercedes-AMG GT. The strap has contrast yellow stitching to match the dial markers.

The pin type buckle is made of titanium.
