IWC, which is among the stars of Watches & Wonders 2023, introduces the Perpetual Calendar, the flagship model family of the iconic Big Pilot product line, with green, the timeless color of the watch world.
IWC, a star of the Watches & Wonders trade show we left behind, attracted attention with its novelties and with its exhibition booth that won great acclaim with its retro-futuristic design. Although the new Ingenieur, which came out of the ingenious hands of the famous watch guru Gerald Genta, attracted the most attention among the novelties offered by the brand, IWC also brought different new models in its pocket.
Among these models, one of the novelties that made a lot of noise was the Perpetual Calendar, the original member of the brand's iconic Big Pilot product group in the high complication segment. The model family, which combines the DNA of a classic pilot's watch with the perpetual calendar, one of the unchanged complications of traditional watchmaking, has expanded with a new model that stands out with its green theme.
The new model added to the product line comes with the updated Big Pilot case, which was introduced in 2021 with the blue dial/steel case/blue leather strap version. The stainless steel case measures 46.2mm in diameter and 15.4mm in height. The case, where polished accents over brushed surfaces add movement to the overall design, sports an AR-coated convex sapphire crystal resistant to sudden pressure drops. The case, which draws attention with its simple yet iconic design and large size, is waterproof up to 60 meters with the help of its screw-in crown and screwed case back with a sapphire crystal display.
The dial, a model-specific component, draws attention with its green tone, which has quickly become a classic in the world of watches. The dial, which uses the design language of the modern Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar model family, hosts applique indices and rhodium-plated hands.
The IWC Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar Green Dial IW503608 beats with the in-house Caliber 52615, signed by the famous watchmaker Kurt Klaus. Equipped with the Pellaton winding system, the automatic movement oscillates at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers a 168-hour power reserve thanks to its double barrel mechanism. The caliber, which impresses with its efficient working performance and engineering marvel architecture, can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display case back.
The strap, another unique detail, is produced from green rubber in the tone suitable for the dial. IWC signed folding clasp made of stainless steel completes the stylish strap, which is the first and yet only alternative among strap options with a 22mm lug opening compatible with an easy-change system.
