IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Constant Force Tourbillon Edition “IWC Racing” (Ref. IW590501)

IWC Schaffhausen defines Big Pilot's Watch Constant-Force Tourbillon Edition "IWC Racing" as "a masterpiece of watchmaking inspired by the high-tech world of motorsport". When you start to look at the details of the model, you realize how right they are in their statements.

The model comes in a Big Pilot style case with a diameter of 46.2mm and a height of 13.5mm. In the production of the case, the brand's patented alloy Ceratanium®, which is a first in a Big Pilot model, is used. This high-tech alloy, which combines the ultra-light feature of titanium with ceramic’s hardness that stands against the wear and tear of time, successfully represents the point where IWC engineering has come. The case, which is equipped with sapphire crystals with double-sided anti-reflective coating on both sides, is accompanied by a dome-shaped crown also made of Ceratanium® material. The case, which looks a tad more compact than it is thanks to the model's "all-black" color palette, can withstand 60 meters of water pressure with the help of the screw-down crown.

The dial of the model, with its matte black design, exhibits a stance in harmony with the "stealth" subjected image that dominates the model in general. On the outside of the dial, there is a shutter-style frame that reinforces the hi-end look of the model. At the 9 o'clock position of the dial, there is a tourbillon escapement with constant power transmission. At 1 o'clock position, the north and south hemisphere indicators stand out, while at 5 o'clock, there is a power reserve indicator that can present the remaining power reserve of the movement in both day and hour. The dial offers excellent legibility in almost any environment with its stylish dial, wide triangular 12 o'clock marker, numerical indices, thick hands, and a large hour/minute scale all finished in contrasting white tone. The gold-tone indexes, another specific element of the model on the dial, strengthen the model's motorsports theme.

The manufacture Caliber 94800 ticks inside this special model. The 41 jewels hand-wound movement hosts the Tourbillon feature equipped with an integrated constant force transmission mechanism, as well as the hour, minute, second (on the Tourbillon), power reserve indicator, and moon phase indicator displaying separately for both the day and the northern hemisphere. The movement offers 4 days/96 hours of power reserve when fully wound.

The list price for the model is CHF 220,000.
