The model, which was introduced within the brand’s novelties at the SIHH 2019 trade show, offers both elegance and functionality with its bronze casing and user-friendly UTC feature.
IWC, which introduced many novelties to watch enthusiasts during the SIHH 2019, had brought the Pilot Watches that offered in its product line for a long time to the fore. The model that was inspired by the brand’s sponsorship for the Silver Spitfire project has been highly acclaimed with its thematic features that fascinated especially the Retro design lovers as well as its case made of bronze and user-friendly UTC function. The model that bears the code MJ271, which was the original call sign of the legendary aircraft during its time of service, is under the spotlight.
The model comes in a bronze alloy case measuring 41mm in diameter 14.1mm in height. The bronze, which offers a unique appearance exclusive to its user with the patina created by the material, is a spot-on choice for the model in terms of highlighting the model’s both military and retro character. The case is equipped with a double anti-glare coated sapphire crystal on the front side and a titanium case back on the rear side featuring a Silver Spitfire illustration. Accompanied by a large, screw-in winding crown, the case is water-resistant to 60 meters / 6 bars.
IWC Pilot’s Watch UTC Spitfire Edition “MJ271” (Ref. IW327101) is equipped with a green dial that is often encountered, especially in bronze watches. This tone, which I’m sure will stand in line with the patina of the case, is accompanied by sword style gold-plated hands and SuperLumiNOVA applied Arabic numeral indexes. The dial, which stands out with its perfect legibility, features a crescent shape UTC indicator at 12 o’clock. The date window is located at 3 o’clock.
The model is powered by the manufacture Caliber 82710. The self-winding movement, which is based on the brand’s Caliber 82000 platform used in most modern IWC timepieces, beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28.800vph) and offers a power reserve of 60 hours. The movement is also anti-magnetic thanks to the miniature Faraday case made of soft iron.
IWC Pilot’s Watch UTC Spitfire Edition “MJ271” (Ref. IW327101) comes on a brown soft calfskin strap. Adorned with contrasting white stitches, the strap is secured by an IWC signed buckle arranged in line with the case material.
