I believe you all know the big three regarding luxury watches; Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin. Some believe Breguet and A.Lange & Söhne would be good to fit that league of big brands. However, it’s a bit confusing to locate where Jaeger-LeCoultre stands.
The brand is technically so powerful that some of it’s time pieces can easily be listed on top of the big three brands’ watches. When we get down to the details, the craftsmanship leaves something to be desired for more however, that relative imperfection seems quite ignorable to fellow hobbyists. To compare Jaeger-LeCoultre with the others is like comparing very good to unnecessarily good.
Therefore Jaeger-LeCoultre shows up with well designed and built time pieces retailed for affordable prices. Duometre Unique Travel Time is one of the latest novelties of the brand in this regard.
For visual appearance wise, Duometre Collection features absolutely unique time pieces. The divided in half form of the dial allows the required lay out for exclusive complications. In Unique Travel Time version, the dial allows the user to read two different time zones in the same dial. While there are many GMT featured watches available, Unique Travel Time does the same job through a visual feast. The time setting is also remarkably easy when compared to conventional GMT versions.
The hour and minute hand located in the right side of the dial read the home time. The left side located jumping-hour feature side reads the second time zone. This part is synchronized with the world figure on the dial. This figure rotates simultaneously to show the second time zone’s location among it’s day/night indicator function. The second time zone feature is set through the pushers located at 8 and 10 o’clock positions.
The version in our review Ref. 6062520 has a 18K pink gold case. There is also a white gold version (Ref. 6063540) as well. The versions has slight differences beside the case material option. The models will be sold exclusively in Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutique’s only.
The case measures 42mm x 13,7mm. Considering today’s standards, 42mm diameter is a quite wearable size for a men’s watch. The wearing comfort is perfect as expected from the brand. WR50M model has double sapphire crystals on both front and back.
Upon flipping the watch, we are welcomed with the stunning in-house Caliber Ref. 383 and the case back’s outer ring with the name of 24 cities engraved on it. 54 jewelled hand wound movement has 498 parts. The movement beats at 28800vph and offers 50h power reserve when fully wound. The power reserve can be monitored through the sub dials at 4 and 8 o’clock positions which are directly connected to the double barrels.
The watch is offered on a brown alligator leather strap and a matching 18K gold buckle. Let us remind u that there is no SuperLuminova ( or similar ) applied on the dial for night time visibility.
