Jaeger-LeCoultre, one of the heavy-hitters in the world of luxury watches, combines traditional watchmaking with the glamorous charm of diamonds with the Night & Day White Gold model from the Rendez-Vous Collection, which was added to the brand’s product line in 2012.
While the watch world may seem like a male-dominated environment, there is an incredible interest in women’s watches, especially in recent years. Of course, this period, where women are more interested and knowledgeable about this stylish and functional accessory than ever, is noticed by the watch manufacturers. While many brands from different segments decide to expand their women’s collections, some big players even introduce women’s timepieces as their novelties at the industries major trade shows.
Jaeger-LeCoultre is one of the first names that come to minds when it comes to luxury women’s watches. The brand, which has been in the market with the women versions of its iconic product line Reverso, seems to have succeeded in addressing a wider customer portfolio with the Rendez-Vous Collection, introduced in 2012, as the young model family has already become one of the most acclaimed collections of the Maison. The model we chose for review, Night & Day White Gold (Ref. 3433570), dazzles with its details that combine traditional luxury watchmaking with the magical charm of precious stones.
The model comes with an 18K white gold case measuring 36mm in diameter and 9.8mm in height. Although those dimensions do not look as big as they used to be for a women’s watch considering today’s standards due to the gem-set bezel, lugs, winding crown and dial with a total 186 pieces (~ 3.52 karat) diamonds, it is impossible to hide its glamour from curious eyes. The case is equipped with scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and is water resistant to 50 meters / five bars.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Night & Day White Gold (Ref. 3433570) features a dial made of mother of pearl, another classic complement of women’s watches. The dial, which is accompanied by large Arabic hour markers and Florale style hands, hosts a beautiful day/night indicator at 6 o’clock, which is also mentioned in the model’s name.
The model is powered by the manufacture Calibre 898B / 1 movement. 29 jewels / 202 parts self-winding movement beats at a frequency of 4Hz (28,800vph) and offers 38 hours of power reserve when fully wound. As expected from a brand such as the Jaeger-LeCoultre, the movement is generously decorated with classic Cotes de Genève patterns and blued screws offering a beautiful overall finish. The movement is equipped with an eye-catching solid gold perforated oscillating rotor with the JLC logo, which can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal case back.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Night & Day White Gold (Ref. 3433570) comes with a hand-stitched dark blue alligator strap that is secured by an 18K white gold pin buckle. The MSRP (Swiss list including taxes) is CHF 49,900.
