It’s been 85 years since the first Reverso has been produced. Jaeger LeCoultre, which has been effected many refinements through this iconic model, celebrated the 85th of Reverso with a stunning version released during SIHH 2016 - Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon.
Undoubtedly, the most significant feature of this beautiful timepiece is its movement. Caliber 179 consists 385 individual parts. After a long R&D period, Jaeger LeCoultre’s engineers managed to keep the size of the watch 30% more compact in wideness and thickness wise. The double axis tourbillon mechanism makes its full outer rotation in one minute and inner rotation in 12.6 seconds. The movement beats at 21600vph and offer 40h power reserve when fully wound.
The balance wheel is a piece of art itself and the logo design is a marvelous detail to understand the brands attention in details. This design is not an aesthetic feature only but also technical one. Developed by Gyrolab, the balance wheel lowers the air resistance factor and helps the movement for more precise timekeeping.
Let’s have a look at the case details. Measuring 51.1mm x 31mm x 12.4 mm, the case is made of platinum as expected for a grand complication timepiece like that and WR30M rated.
The watch features double dials. One of the dials is offered in contrast white surface and black hands set and indexes. The day/night indicator is located at 11 o’clock position. The second hand rotating around the Gyrotourbillon mechanism is a nice design detail.
The other side of the watch houses a skeleton type dial. The bridges are decorated with a traditional watch making classic; Cotes De Geneve pattern. This side features the day/night indicator at 2 o’clock position.
Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon is offered on a black crocodile strap and a nice buckle designed like JLC lettering.
Obviously, Jaeger LeCoultre done an amazing job to celebrate it’s iconic model Reverso’s 85th year with that fascinating timepiece. Beside the admiring heritage of the product line, the aesthetic and technological touches made that watch an impressive timepiece.
