Lange 1 Time Zone: Now with The New Manufacture Movement

Lange 1 Time Zone, A. Lange & Söhne's model showing different time zones at the same time, is now working with a new in-house movement.

It was 2005 when A. Lange & Söhne, the gift of the Germans to luxury watchmaking, introduced the Time Zone model to Lange 1, one of the brand's most important collections. The popular model of the brand will now meet watch lovers with a new in-house movement.

Lange 1 Time Zone, unlike world time watches, displays two different time zones at a single glance. The time zone we are in is displayed from the sub-dial using the hands in the big ring, and the other time zone is adjusted by the city ring. Both time slots can be adjusted simultaneously by the crown.

One of the important innovations in the model is that the day/night indicator, shown in the original version with arrow-shaped rotating hands, is shifted to the center of the circles. In this position, it informs the user in the first or second half of the day with the hands. Blue printed semicircles complete one full rotation around their axes in 24 hours, while the hand cycles twice in the same process.

Another useful feature of the new Lange 1 Time Zone is the daylight-saving time display. The window of the arrow-shaped golden indicator in the circle showing the second time zone gives information about the daylight-saving status of the selected city. If the window is red, it means that daylight saving time is being applied in the selected city. In this case, one hour is added to the time zone from spring to autumn in the northern hemisphere and from late summer to spring in the southern hemisphere. If the city in question has a standard time application throughout the year, the window remains in the dial color. The coding of the lower part of the city ring makes this feature technically possible.

The new model and the original model have two things in common: one of them is the easy adjustment of the second time zone using the ring that includes 24 time zones, and the other is the synchronization mechanism that allows the time zone to be transferred from the small sub-dial to the large dial. Thanks to this feature, the selected time zone can be moved with the main time zone. When the winding crown is pulled to the second position, the time in both time zones are adjusted synchronously. However, if the button that is used to set the second time zone is pressed during this process, the hour hand in the selected time zone does not move. Thus, the time in the main time zone can be set up independently of the other. The button at 10 o'clock is used to set the date display.

New Caliber L141.1

All models in the Lange 1 collection, which previously worked with the Caliber L901, are powered by the new in-house Caliber L141.1. The new movement, created with the experience of 65 movements developed so far, provides a 72-hour power reserve with a single barrel.

Details such as a three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver, screwed gold chatons, blued screws, hand-carved balance and cock can be viewed through the sapphire crystal display case back.
