One of the well-known boutique brands of luxury watchmaking Laurent Ferrie, introduced the new Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro-Rotor “Montre Ecole” British Racing Green model which is inspired by the famous watchmaker’s second passion: motor sports.
Everybody knows about Laurent Ferrier’s passion for cars. The master watchmaker even took part in the cult Le Mans 24 Hours in 1979 and finished third. Offering timepieces inspired by motor sports, Laurent Ferrier highlighted his passion for cars with the newly introduced Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro-Rotor “Montre Ecole” British Racing Green model debuted at the London Craft Week 2018.
Introduced at the London Craft Week festival, where more than 200 small and very large brands are attending and both British and international participants are involved, the new model sports classic Laurent Ferrie design details while paying tribute to the British origin of the event with its dial finished in classic British Racing Green.
The new model is based on the Galet Micro-Rotor "Montre Ecole", which refers to the student years of the famous watchmaker. The model is offered in a fully polished stainless-steel case measuring 40mm in diameter and 10.70mm in height. Thanks to the thick domed bezel and straight cubic lugs, the new model looks like it’s been converted from a pocket watch which is called a Trench Watch, quite a popular trend especially among soldiers in WWI era. The case is equipped with scratch resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and it is water resistant to 30 meters.
As mentioned in the name, the new model comes with a lacquer dial finished in classic British Racing Green, which is used by many UK origin automobile manufacturers like Aston-Martin, Jaguar, Lotus, Triumph, MG and Sun Beam, tributes to both motor sports and British car culture. The dial sports a small seconds sub dial finished in silver at 6 o’clock and white gold applique hour markers and Assegai-style hands.
The new model is powered by the brand’s in-house Caliber FBN 229.01. 35 jewels self-winding micro-rotor movement beats at a frequency of 3Hz and offers a 72-hour power reserve when fully wound. Composed of 189 individual parts, the movement can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display case back.
Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro-Rotor "Montre Ecole" The British Racing Green is offered on a dark brown Nova Nappa leather strap which is another salute to classic cars. The strap is secured with a pin buckle made of stainless-steel. The MSRP for the model is 37000,00 CHF.
