Longines, one of the leading names in the Swiss Watch Industry, celebrates its 190th anniversary today. The cult brand, whose name is always associated with quality and prestige, immortalizes this special occasion with a new collection.
The new collection hosts three product types in total. While the stainless steel model is added to the standard product line, the models made of 18K yellow and pink gold are produced following the 190th-anniversary theme, limited to only 190 pieces each and numbered.
The cases, which are entirely made of glossy surfaces, take on not only a traditional but also a modern and sporty character with a diameter of 40mm. Promising a comfortable wearing experience even on thin wrists with a total height of 9.35mm, the cases feature sapphire crystals on both sides.
The new models are equipped with dials designed in gray-silver tones and featuring different background patterns. Sand, vertical brush, and grain patterned dials add a modest but distinct dynamism to the classic theme of the collection. Elegant leaf-style hands and Arabic numeral hour markers are written in italic font to keep the traditional theme while maximizing legibility. The Vintage Longines logo and the inscription Automatic in the same font style support the simple yet functional design language of the elegant dial, which is free from the date function.
All models in the stylish collection are powered by the Caliber L888.5 movement. The automatic movement, specially developed for Longines, based on the proven quality and durability of the ETA A31.L01, beats at a frequency of 25.200vph and offers a power reserve of 70 hours when fully wound. The movement, which provides maximum resistance to magnetic environments thanks to the balance spring made of silicon, which has recently become the shining star of the industry, can be enjoyed through the sapphire crystal display case back.
The new models come with alligator straps, in keeping with the collection's traditionally focused theme. The comfortable straps, prepared in anthracite tone and giving a "soft touch" feeling, are fixed to the wrist with folding clasps produced per the case material.
Blending Longines' nearly two centuries old style and quality with the requirements of the modern age, the model not only celebrates the 190th anniversary of the well-established brand but is already among the most refined examples of the timeless classic dress watch concept.
