Longines Ultra-Chron Diver Re-Edition

Longines, one of the pioneers of the trend of updating old models and presenting them to watch lovers again, introduced the Re-Issue version of the Ultra-Chron Diver, one of its unique designs from the 60s.

Longines dives into its archives to revive one of its coolest creations of the 60s, the high-frequency Ultra-Chron Diver. The brand's history with high-frequency movements goes from the 50Hz stopwatch capable of measuring 1/100th of a second in 1916 to the stylish 5Hz wristwatches of the late 50s. This was followed by the Ultra-Chron Diver in 1968, equipped with the high-frequency Caliber 431 and guaranteed accuracy up to one minute per month. Today, this interesting model takes its place in the Longines product group again with a re-issue version, which draws attention with its movement operating at a frequency of 5Hz (36,000vph) just like the original model.

The new model comes with a cushion-style case designed with a diameter of 43mm and a height of 13.60mm. The case, which offers a water resistance value of 300 meters, has a sapphire crystal on the front and a unidirectional diver bezel with a Super-LumiNOVA filled scale on a sapphire insert. The case, which is acclaimed for its nostalgic design, is accompanied by an Ultra-Chron embossed screw-down case back and screw-down crown.

The retro character of the model is also emphasized in the dial design. The dial with a matte black background, which draws attention with its rough surface, is accompanied by cardinal hour markers with baton-style laths and thick hands that are also specially designed. With its red color, the minute hand reinforces the red details on the bezel. The dial decorated with the Ultra-Chron emblem and inscription does not have a different extra function, including the date window.

At the heart of the new model is a hi-beat movement operating at a frequency of 5Hz (36000vph), as in the original model that inspired it. The Caliber L836.6, "Chronometer" certified by Timelab Geneva, offers a power reserve time of up to 52 hours when fully wound.
