Roger Dubuis, which does not hesitate to push the boundaries of Haute Horlogerie with technology, promises to draw all the attention even in the pitch dark with his new model Excalibur Twofold.
Luxury watch brands have been pushing their knowledge in different areas for a long time. At the end of the day, there must always be something 'new' for this rather old industry. Roger Dubuis is one of the brands that push its limits by using its experience on impressive and unusual materials. The brand that surprised its fans with Excalibur Quatuor Car Tech Micro-Melt BioDur CCM and Excalibur Spider-Carbon3 models is now before us with a brand new model that will shine not only with its dial but also with its strap.
Blending luxury watchmaking technology with aesthetic details, this remarkable horology product of Roger Dubuis represents three world premieres. The watch's 45mm case and the bezel are made of mineral composite fiber (MCF), made of 99.95 percent silica and developed by the brand. The Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) process, for which brand engineers are experts, enables them to do excellent work with MFC. This material, which is the first for the world of Haute Horlogerie, patented and lasting 60 percent longer than standard luminescent materials, illuminates every angle of the top plate of the movement.
Sapphire crystal with anti-reflection coating rises above the watch's skeletonized dial. The case shows resistance to water pressure up to 30 meters.
The special silicone strap of Roger Dubuis Excalibur Twofold (Ref. RDDBEX0900) also features the 'LumiSuperBiwiNova' technology, which makes it shine in the dark. A buckle made of titanium complements the strap.
Limited to a span of eight units only, the new model beats with the hand-wound Caliber RD01SQ providing 50 hours of power reserve when fully wound for both tourbillons in addition to hours and minutes.
