Maurice Lacroix introduced a blue and yellow themed version of its Super Compressor type diver’s watch with a 100-piece limited edition.
Having a product line of mostly classic and elegant timepieces, Maurice Lacroix had very positive feedback upon presenting its Super Compressor style dive watch, the Pontos S. The brand has been unconcerned with the successful sales figures of the Pontos S, which was considered as a strong alternative in the league of classic diver’s watches, and released a Northern America only version limited to 100 pieces respectively.
The limited edition version shares the very same platform with the standard model. A 43mm case features a largely matte finish, except for the smooth bezel which is executed in mirror polished form. The case sports an AR coated sapphire crystal on the front, and a solid caseback in the back providing an impressive WR rating at 600 meters. As I mentioned before, the Pontos S is a Super Compressor type diver’s watch. Therefore, there is a pair of winding crowns, and the one at 2 o’clock position is assigned for operating the inner rotating bezel. Time and date setting is done by the regular winding crown located at 3 o’clock position.
The standard version is only available with a black dial accompanied by orange accents. The limited version is designed in an striking blue/yellow combination inspired by the color of “The Blue Devil “ -a long fin fish native to Southern Australia. The yellow details match nicely with the yellow o-ring on the secondary winding crown.
The Pontos S Diver is powered with the Caliber Ref. ML115, which is a Sellita SW200, an automatic movement that’s based on the tested and approved ETA 2824. The movement beats at 28,800vph and offers 38h power reserve when fully wound.
The Pontos S Diver Blue Devil is offered on a stainless steel bracelet, but the box set includes a black rubber strap as well as a blue NATO-style calfskin strap that loops under the watch case.
Limited to only 100 pieces, the Pontos S Diver Blue Devil is retailed at US$2950 (USA list price). It will be available at Maurice Lacroix retailers in North America beginning November 2016.
