Meistersinger No.03, which won the prestigious best design award in Germany in 2007, was presented to the watch enthusiasts with its new 40mm case at the 2017 Baselworld fair and received positive feedback from both the watch aficionados and the authorities, along with other new models in the collection. I mentioned about my visit to Tevfik Aydın store in the past days. I have noticed Meistersinger’s latest models revealed during the Baselworld this year at the store, which is also the authorized distributor of the German brand in Turkey. Meistersinger No.03 40mm Ref.DM901 is one of the models there that I would like to share with you.
Back in 2007, Meistersinger No.03 won the best design of the year award in Germany with its original version offered in a 43mm diameter case. The model we have here is the updated version of that award winning design with a 40mm case. Tevfik Aydın has all versions of the collection in stock. The version I would like to present you is the Ref. DM901 which is also my favorite with its dial color and strap.
The new model comes in a stainless steel case measuring 40mm x 11.5mm. The case offers an optimized size in terms of comfort as I would say it’s neither big, nor small. Equipped with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal on the front side, the case is water resistant to 50 meters.
The version we have here is offered with a white dial accompanied with a blue hand. Unlike the 43mm version of the Meistersinger No.03, the model we have here employs a date display located at 6 o’clock. The date disk is arranged with white font over black background. In my previous articles, I mostly complain about the white background date disks in black (or any darker color) dials as they ruin the integrity of the overall look. Now it’s totally opposite in that timepiece and I am not happy with that once again as the dial is white this time. Though this is an important design detail for me, I know a lot of watch enthusiasts would not be bothered with it.
The model is powered by a self-winding movement based on ETA 2824-2 or its clone Sellita SW200-1 calibers with 38 hours power reserve.
The model I chose for the review is offered on a very stylish leather strap called "Suede Cognac" by Meistersinger. The strap is secured with a stainless steel tang buckle. In the meantime, there are a variety of straps offered with that model and the other versions can be seen at the link below:
