When it comes to mono-handed watches, one of the first brands that come to mind is Meistersinger. It is possible to see this design in a large part of their collection. We have another mono-handed model from the German manufacturer in our pages today. However this time it is a limited edition model which is exclusively designed to commemorate the 90th year of Republic of Turkey.
During my recent visit to the Tevfik Aydın store, I had the opportunity to try many Meistersinger models mainly the ones introduced after Baselworld 2017. But when I see the Mesitersinger Turkey Limited Edition Collection there, I wanted to share with you.
I have been following this model since its introduction, but I have never been able to get to see it in person. When I saw this model in the store (with both dial options), I decided to write a review article.
Meistersinger designed this special collection exclusively for the 90th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey in 2013. The model, presented in two different dial colors, comes in a stainless steel case measuring 43mm in diameter. The case is equipped with scratch-resistant sapphire crystals on both sides and it is water resistant to 50 meters. Normally, I would complain about the water resistance value of 50 meters but this time -for a dress watch with a leather strap- I will not.
Since the model is a Turkey themed timepiece, there is also a strong patriotic side as well. The accents about Turkey are well balanced and nicely added to the dial, without exaggerating or ruining the dial’s integrity. As I mentioned at the beginning of my article, the collection is offered in two dial color options as black or white. My personal favorite is the black version which suits with the specialty of the model.
The models are powered with ETA 2824-2 or its clone Sellita SW 200-1 movements. Both movements, which have been tested and approved with their durability and easy servicing, offer 38 hours of power reserve when fully wound. The movements are enjoyed through the sapphire crystal caseback.
Both versions are offered with black alligator straps. The straps are hand stitched in contrasting white color and they are secured with Meistersinger signed standard buckle made of stainless steel.
If you are interested about these models, which are produced only 90 of each of the 90th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey in 2013; all you need to do is to visit the Tevfik Aydın store in Sirkeci-Istanbul. For the watch enthusiasts who are interested in those models, it is advisable to hurry up, as they are very few in both versions. In the meantime, let me add that the No.23, which reminds the establishment date of our republic and No.06, the car plate sign for our capital Ankara where Republic of Turkey has been founded, are still in store stocks.
